VEXFIND
Vortex handling in Citadel-86 (that is, the detection of loops in
the network) is activated by placing +vortex on the command line of
CTDL. The VEXFIND utility allows the display of information concerning
the current vortex records.
Vexfind may be used in one of two modes. First, just the name may
be typed at the command line:
C>VEXFIND
This will result in all of the current names known to the vortex handler
to be printed to the console. This allows you to get an active list of
all the systems you have recieved at least one message from since you last
deleted the *.VEX files.
The second mode is to place a system name on the command line:
C>VEXFIND "C-86 Test System"
This allows the discovery of the index value associated with the named
system. This can be used in turn to delete corrupted vortex records.
The vortex records are the files named *.VEX in the #NETAREA directory.
Once the index is found, simply delete "<index>.vex".
And, unlike most other Citadel-86 utilities, this utility can be run
while in #NETAREA or from your standard Citadel directory, because it
doesn't need CtdlTabl.Sys if the vortex files (VORTEX.SYS) are in the
current directory.
